It's time to get your HOLIDAY on!

August 1st was the debut of the 2013 Holiday catalog! I have had some fun already with many of the new dies and thinlits! So many ideas, so little time! Don't you wish some days that life could stand still long enough to just do what your hands and head want you to do ? I have had a lot of creative time this summer, but not as much as I need, (that never happens).  Most of the summer has gone so fast that I have not had the opportunity to come here and report what is happening in the craft room! But things are winding down and school will be starting soon, so my " grandgirlies" will be in the teachers hands and  I will be set up in my new space! I will be up and running soon  planning some events and sharing the fun!  Stay cool and have fun !

I spent some time with family at a waterpark a couple weeks ago and had so much fun! Floated down the lazy river, baked in the sun, got caught in a heavy rain, cell phone drownded, camera battery died!   BUT IT WAS FUN!

Now I am grounded again and have learned that there is nothing important enough that you have to take your cell phone in the bottom of a tote bag ....to the waterpark....

It could rain buckets and water will settle in the bottom of the bag! If you don't have your contacts backed up... YOU WILL LOOSE THEM!

ANYWAY..... summer continues!!

Look what's coming .... New boxes for storing our wood mount stamp sets!

 

This is another sneek peek of what is to come in the new catalog

beginning on MAY 31st!  Looks like there will be a couple sizes... and they will fit right on our stamp shelf right next to the thin cases the clear stamp sets already come shipped in.  Now from what I can gather, we will  also be able to order empty boxes for the sets we already have! Then the wood stamp sets available in the catalog will be shipped in these new boxes!  This will make organization so much easier! 

 I LOVE organization....

Just wish I had some clue how it works! LOL!  My craft areas... yes I have several...

 are far from organized... but that's how I roll! One day I will post pictures of my areas!

Wedding or 25th Anniversary card

I had the best time ever last weekend on a scraping retreat with some friends! Many were scrapbooking and some were card making. This is such a fun concept. If the opportunity comes up for you  to get away, I highly recommend  you try it. 

 I happen to belong to a card exchange  so I worked on several cards. One of the cards coming up was to be a wedding card.... This is what I came up with.

I used whisper white cardstock, the beautiful  Silver Glimmer Paper #124005,

silver embossing powder #109131, pieces of the #126869 5/8" flower trim,  some lg pearl basics, #122987 perfect plum taffeta ribbon,  1/2  Paper doillies #129399, and I also created a stick pin for a little keepsake of Swarovski crystal and matching plum pearls!

Hope you enjoy this, it is actually a very simple card that would be a big hit!

What's new today?

Did a little experimenting yesterday with My Digital Studio ( MDS2).

I played around with trying to produce this phrase in all the various fonts I have on my computer.  None of them were quite what I wanted. First I was planning on just doing a scrapbook page with this, then I got thinking it would be pretty sweet on the wall! I did happen to see this exact phrase somewhere on the internet... can't remember where... But  when I searched through my saved pictures... there it was!

So I picked it,  worked with it in MDS2, saved it , and proceeded to trace it in my software I use for my electronic cutter and WHA- LA..... Success!  It now resides on  the wall by my fireplace!

I am always amazed at what technology  little ol' me can seem to work around!!

 

Swallowtail!

 What a beautiful Stamp!  I am pleased with how easy it is to create a quick card.   I made these for a set of four cards to put together in a card box for a gift. You could use this stamp with absolutely any sentiment.  Here I just added some of the Pretty Petites from  the Sale-a-bration flyer.  For this set  I chose the colors from the 2011- 2013 IN Colors... Wisteria Wonder, Calypso Coral, Lucky Limeade, and Island Indigo.  Along with those ink colors I over- stamped each image with  Versa Mark and used HEAT AND STICK to add DAZZLING DETAILS! I LOVE that technique, it can realy make something very simple  just* BLING*!

Today's post is just a simple card I created for a card exchange I belong to.  The theme is Thinking Of You.
    It was fun playing with some of the FREE items from  the Sale-a-bration flyer... the Vine Street embossing folder #130492  and the Vintage Verses stamp set #129633.
 I have always loved the color So Saffron and I am very fond of Wisteria Wonder.  The two went well together for this card.The little soft flower is from the 2013 Spring catalog  Flower Trim  #266869  LOVE IT!  It comes as a 2 yd. piece of trim that you can clip - each flower individually or several at a time! They can even be tinted to color match!
    I  have been noticing a lot of cards with a stick pin to add bling or embellishment so I added this little angel pin. It's kind of like a gift within the card!  The pin can be removed and worn on a sweater, collar or lapel.

Good "CRAFTERNOON"!

 

Lots of fun at our "CRAFTERNOON" yesterday. I enjoyed the company of 6 very sweet ladies. These gals were all sisters and 1 sister in law. They got together from the surrounding area to just spend time together. They were completely my style of gals! They wanted to have something to do  before they checked in to the hotel, that would be fun, and not challenging, so I offered to occupy a few hours of the afternoon. None of them are as nuts over a craft project as I am ( that is saying a mouthful). But I came up with some tried and true, easy projects for them and we had a lot of fun. We created an etched vase, then decorated it by adding ribbon and a stick pin, made a post-it note holder, the card I posted yesterday,card and sour cream treat holders!  All of them left very happy with their creations.... READY to come back for more!

 The Idea is not a new one for me. My sisters (I have 7 of them) and I did the very same thing the first weekend of February this year. We've always done the get together -go shopping, out to eat , spend the weekend in a hotel etc. This year we decided to do a camp-in at my home ... spend time together hashing over old times and remembering people we miss, look at old pictures and of course laugh   giggle, and cry like no one was watching. In the process we created some fun things .... I will show those another day!  So my  Crafternoons"  are going to be a my workshops from now on!

Simple but sweet as a chocolate bunny!

How sweet is this stamp! I've paired it up with a favorite color combo of Chocolate chip and Pink Pirouette. This cute stamp is one of the new SINGLE stamps now available... EARS TO YOU.
Perfect for that Easter greeting or a simple note card. Also added a few Jewel Basic Rhinestones.
Fun and easy so today I will be using  this design to introduce card making and Stampin'Up to a group of ladies. We are going to fill a couple hours just making a few cute spring things. I am calling this a "CRAFTERNOON".... more on that later!
